What is chiropractic care?
What is one of the first questions we see as chiropractors when a new patient comes to the office for the first time?
Is chiropractic safe for me and my family?
Short answer...yes of course!!!!
Chiropractic care is a gentile yet effect form of treatment to help alleviate a lot of musculoskeletal complaints that most of us experience every single day. Whether it be low back pain from sitting at a desk all day, or upper back and neck pain from the boom in technology use that we have all experienced, chiropractic can help get some relief to these areas by adjusting the spine and relieving built up pressure within and on your nervous system. When talking about chiropractic care we can not forget the number one thing we do as chiropractors...adjust Subluxations.
What is a subluxation?
A subluxation is the misalignment of the vertebrae that is putting pressure upon the nervous system. If we break it down just a little bit more, the word Sub- means less than or below in medical terms. Luxation- means dislocation or severe misalignment. So if we put the two words together, Subluxation, it basically means that misalignment in your spinal column that is creating pressure on the nervous system and creating some type of symptomology. Whether that be headaches, low back pain, tingling in the arms or legs, shooting pain in the arms or legs, or even things such as decreased digestive function, decreased reproductive function, or a myriad of other things. One thing is for certain...the nervous system controls every single cell, organ, and tissue in your body, so if we can keep that system clear of interference, then the likelihood of you living a symptom free, pain free, and overall healthier life is very achievable.

TYPES OF CHIROPRACTIC CARE. WHO SHOULD GET ADJUSTED?
Chiropractic care and Pregnancy
It has been reported that close to 40-50% of pregnant women will experience some type of low back pain while being pregnant. Throughout the last decade of seeing patients, Dr. Wade has helped countless moms-to-be with the very uncomfortable and painful pains of being pregnant. Keeping the low back and pelvis aligned throughout the pregnancy process not only helps mom to feel better, but can also help alleviate some of the stress that comes with the childbirth process as well.
Infants and Newborns
There is no denying that the process of being born is probably one of the most intense and stressful events that a human being goes through in their lives. So wouldn't it make sense to try and get your child off to a great start with getting them at least checked or evaluated shortly after to make sure things are still aligned how they are supposed to be? In todays day and age, most people think that getting adjusted is something aggressive that they have seen in a video somewhere on the internet. But nothing could be farther from the truth when adjusting kids; especially newborns and infants. It is a very gentle, sustained-pressure only way of checking the spine and nervous system that just uses the tip of a finger to help get the baby adjusted. Studies have shown that when our kids get adjusted it can help with things like ear infections, colic, and in some cases can help ease the discomfort of torticollis. Ask today if this could be something that your child could benefit from!!!
Healthy Aging with Chiropractic
Do you want to age gracefully and stay in optimal physical shape? Aging is a natural process that occurs as an individual goes through life. Over time, the body experiences natural changes such as thinning or graying hair, declining senses or decreased function in bodily organs, and normal wear and tear on joints and muscles. Around the world, people are living longer, making proactive and preventative healthcare choices, such as chiropractic, critical to not only living longer, but enjoying the later years in good health.
Techniques
Here at One Spine at A Time, we pride ourselves in being very versatile when it comes to how you will get adjusted. Like stated previously, no two patients are exactly the same, so they shouldn't be receiving the same exact adjustment. Most of the adjusting done in the office is what we call Diversified Technique, which means that it is a combination of many different styles or techniques of adjusting to achieve the optimum adjustment for that patient. Some other techniques that Dr. Wade uses while adjusting patients are: Thompson Technique, Activator and Gonstead. Most are primarily hands on technique without the use of technology, but with Activator, a tool is used to more gentle remove the subluxation from the spine.
